Michelle Cox is the inaugural Director of the English Language Support Office of Cornell University’s Knight Institute. Previously, she was faculty at Bridgewater State University and Dartmouth College.  She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses on writing, writing theory, and writing pedagogy; launched and directed a Writing Across the Curriculum program; and is currently developing a writing and speaking support program for international graduate and professional students. She earned her PhD in Composition Studies from the University of New Hampshire in 2006. She is founding chair of CCC WAC Standing Group, the Association for Writing Across the Curriculum and the Consortium on Graduate Communication. Her publications include WAC and Second Language Writers: Research toward Developing Linguistically and Culturally Inclusive Programs (2014, co-edited with Terry Myers Zawacki), Supporting Graduate Writers: Research, Curriculum, and Program Design (2016, co-edited with Steve Simpson, Nigel Caplan, and Talinn Phillips), and Sustainable WAC: A Whole Systems Approach to Launching and Developing WAC Programs (2018, co-authored with Jeffrey Galin and Dan Melzer).
