DESCRIPTION:AWAC’s Mentoring Committee is delighted to host Anna Kinney and David Beard for a virtual workshop: “Building Coalitions for Writing Program Advocacy” \nDate: Friday\, February 13\nTime: 12pm ET (11am CT\, 10am MT\, 9am PT\, 5pm GMT\, 6pm CET) \nPresenter Info:\nAnna Kinney\, Coordinator of the University Writing Program\, University of North Dakota\nDavid Beard\, Writing Studies BA Program Coordinator and Professor of Rhetoric\, University of Minnesota-Duluth \n\nDeclining enrollment. External stakeholders focused on ROI and “efficiencies.” Misaligned strategic investment risk causing reduction or elimination of those who are committed to the shared values of higher education. The pressures we face are many and exhausting. In this session\, we will share what we’ve learned from these challenges\, from navigating internal institutional pressures to doing “sneaky advocacy” with legislators and state boards. DESCRIPTION:WAC Research Networking Event\n \nFriday\, February 27\, 1-3 pm ET (12-2pm CT\, 11am-1pm MT\, 10-12pm PT\, 6-8pm GMT\, 7-9pm CET) \nThe AWAC Research and Publications committee invites all WAC leaders and researchers at all stages of their careers (including graduate students) to a special online research networking event. \nOnce you RSVP\, you will be asked about WAC-related areas you currently research or would like to research. Based on these responses\, the organizers will set up breakout rooms around various research questions or topics. \nAt the event\, you will have time to visit at least two different rooms\, where you will become acquainted with others who share your interests and have the opportunity to brainstorm some research ideas. \nThe goal of the event is to connect you with other WAC leaders and scholars in order to form possible research teams or research support groups. You will leave with the names and contact information of several people who share your interests. \nIf you would like to participate\, the organizers ask that you RSVP and fill out a very brief survey in advance so that we can set up the most productive hosted breakout sessions.
