SUMMARY:AWAC Invites: Supporting Graduate Student Writers with Writing
DESCRIPTION:Mentoring Committee is delighted to announce our first ever AWAC Invites event!\n\n\nAWAC Invites events are digital presentations\, conversations\, workshops\, and other kinds of programming that our colleagues in the field of WAC/WID are already hosting at their own home institutions for folks at those institutions. Our colleagues are simply opening these local events up to members of the broader WAC and writing studies communities\, allowing us to see some of the on-the-ground work our colleagues our doing.\nSupporting Graduate Student Writers with Writing\nWednesday\, October 21\, at 2pm ET\, 1pm CT\, 12pm MT\, 11am PT\, 7pm BT\, 8pm CET \nAt the graduate level\, writing in fundamentally different from what students encountered as undergraduates. It requires strong writing skill\, as well as the ability to navigate complex disciplinary expectations\, manage multiple projects\, and sustain long-term scholarly work. In this workshop\, we’ll discuss practical strategies for supporting graduate students in your programs\, including considerations of first-generation students and multilingual writers. This workshop is designed for instructors across disciplines working directly with graduate students.
