DESCRIPTION:The Research and Publications Committee of the Association for Writing Across the Curriculum invites all AWAC members to a collaborative talk on Virtual Reality and Embodied Writing: Implications for WAC Pedagogy. Click here to learn more.) \n\nDate: Friday\, October 10\nTime: 12pm ET (11am CT\, 10am MT\, 9am PT) \n\nJoin on Zoom: https://yorku.zoom.us/j/94956998883\n \nPresenters include: \nElizabeth Caravella\, Assistant Professor at York University\nSarah Riddick\, Associate Professor at Worcester Polytechnic Institute\nRich Shivener\, Associate Professor at York University\nJason Tham\,  Associate Professor at Texas Tech University\n\n  \nThis collaborative talk presents findings from an international research project investigating virtual reality as a tool for writing in courses and professions. Through mixed-methods research\, the team examined how writers adapt to immersive technologies and reflect on the embodied nature of composition. Our research suggests that a productive pedagogical approach to incorporating technologies such as VR involves understanding its unique affordances rather than expecting the tools to replicate familiar writing practices.
