Elizabeth Wardle is the Roger & Joyce Howe Distinguished Professor of Written Communication and Director of the Howe Center for Writing Excellence at Miami University (OH). Previously she served as department chair of writing and rhetoric at the University of Central Florida and Director of Writing Programs at the University of Central Florida and University of Dayton. At Miami, she leads the Howe Faculty Writing Fellows Program each semester, a theory- and expertise-based “master class” for teams of faculty from multiple disciplines, culminating in a group project designed to promote departmental change around the teaching and learning of writing.  She is the co-author of Writing about Writing, a textbook for first-year writing courses; Naming What We Know: Threshold Concepts of Writing Studies; (re)Considering What We Know: Learning Thresholds in Writing, Composition, Rhetoric, and Literacy; and Composition, Rhetoric, and Disciplinarity. She regularly consultants and gives workshops on topics such as knowledge transfer, threshold concepts, writing pedagogy, and program design for both first-year writing and writing across the curriculum/writing in the disciplines.
