Terry Myers Zawacki
Emerita Professor and Former WAC and Writing Center Director George Mason Universityude.umg@cawTerry Myers Zawacki is an emerita professor and former WAC and Writing Center director at George Mason University. She speaks and consults on building and sustaining WAC programs, developing and assessing WAC-focused QEPs, mapping and assessing writing in the disciplines; and working with second-language writers across disciplines. Prof. Zawacki’s co-authored/co-edited publications include Engaged Writers and Dynamic Disciplines, WAC and Second Language Writers, Writing Across the Curriculum: A Critical Sourcebook, and Re/Writing the Center: Approaches to Supporting Graduate Students in the Writing Center, as well as articles on a range of teaching-with-writing topics related to WAC, writing centers, graduate student writing, and WAC and English L2 writers. She has given plenary addresses at IWAC and conferences of the European Association of Teachers of Academic Writing, the Middle East-North Africa Writing Center Association, English across the Curriculum in Hong Kong, and the Consortium on Graduate Communication. Her current professional service includes acting as the lead editor of the WAC Clearinghouse series International Exchanges on the Study of Writing; sitting on a number of WAC-related editorial boards, including the WAC Clearinghouse Board, and on the Advisory Board of the graduate organization WAC-GO. She is a co-founder of the WAC Summer Institute and among the founding members of AWAC. Prior to retirement, she was the recipient of the David King award given annually to a faculty member who has made significant, long-term contributions to the overall educational excellence of the university as well as a University Teaching Excellence award.
